Morning all!
Hope you’ve had a great week. There have been so many birds in the garden recently, all in a midst of activity, which feels a bit similar to my fortnight as I have been moving! So this week’s newsletter is a little shorter, but focuses around a wonderful way I love to just take a moment to stop and pause – having a lovely bubble bath.
I’ll also tell you about an incredibly cosy book for all ages, and the wonderful skincare hacks of pygmy hippopotamus!
Let’s grab a cuppa and take 5 minutes to focus on the little things! ☕
Sinking Into the Bubbles
After a busy day, it’s finally time to relax.
I turn on the tap, watching as steam begins to rise, hot against the cold porcelain. I take the bubble bath from the cupboard and pour in a generous glug. The smell begins to waft around the room, lavender, sage, or something that reminds me of the sea. As the liquid hits the rush of the tap, more and more bubbles bloom, providing islands across the water’s surface. As a kid, I would mould these, creating different shapes, splitting them in half down the middle, rounding their sides – although actually, I sometimes still do this now (would recommend).
Gingerly, I dip my toe into the bath, checking for temperature, putting more cool water in until I can get in with ease, before topping the hot water up once again. I then turn off the taps, and settle. It’s a moment of pause, a moment to just sit. I feel my muscles gradually relax, cocooned by the bathtub.
I sink into the bubbles.

I want to hear from you!
It could be anything, from something you saw on a walk, to that great hot chocolate you had, to that amazing book you need to tell everyone about!

What I’ve been reading
The Tea Dragon Society by K. O’Neill
I’ve realised I don’t think I’ve ever talked about a graphic novel in my newsletter- so it’s time to rectify that!
I love graphic novels – it’s a brilliant way of expressing a story, and can be just as evocative as a more traditional book.
One of my favourite cosy graphic novels is The Tea Dragon Society by K. O’Neil. Perfect for all ages, the story follows Greta, an apprentice blacksmith who finds a lost tea dragon (yep, a dragon who brews tea). She becomes entwined in their world, learning all about the craft of tea dragon caretaking, and seeing how this art form not only enriches the lives of the local tea shop owners, but herself as well.
Perfect for fans of:
📚 Cosy and heartwarming reads
📚 Stunning illustrations
📚 Inclusive fantasy narratives
And finally….a weird animal fact!
Pygmy hippos produce their own moisturiser!
So when I’ve seen pygmy hippos, I’ve assumed they’re shiny as they’ve just come out of the water. However, as these wonderful creatures are prone to very dry and cracked skin, they actually produce their own mucus-like substance from glands under their skin, keeping their skin moist and preventing sunburn!

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed-let me know what you think, and what you’d like to see in future editions. If you know someone else who would like it, please share and let’s grow the newsletter!
Can’t wait to hear from you, and have a great day! ☀️
